Case Study – Surrey Panther Watch
We partnered with SPW to build a bold, informative and wildly successful website.

Overview
Surrey Panther Watch (SPW), run by wildlife researcher and enthusiast Gary Ridley, is a grassroots project dedicated to gathering conclusive evidence of big cats living wild in the UK. What began as a local passion project has since grown into a national curiosity — featured by BBC and The Guardian, and ranking highly on Google for key search terms.
At Carggo, we partnered with Gary to build a website that reflects the investigative spirit of his work while ensuring high visibility and engagement through expert SEO and distinctive branding.
Goals
Gary approached us with a clear vision:
- Build a professional yet accessible platform for SPW’s content and mission
- Ensure the site ranks well, especially for niche wildlife and big cat-related searches
- Create a visual identity, including a powerful logo
- Make it easy to share sightings, reports, and updates with the public

Our Approach
We crafted a visually engaging, fast-loading website that feels both scientific and mysterious — echoing the tone of the research itself. Using clean layouts and strategic content placement, we built a site that balances readability with intrigue, encouraging visitors to stay, explore, and report.
The SPW site covers a lot of fascinating territory — eyewitness reports, scientific hypotheses, camera trap evidence, and feline genetics.
Logo Design
The site’s identity is anchored by a destructive panther head logo — fierce, enigmatic, and instantly recognisable. This branding reflects the core mission: uncovering something wild, hidden, and powerful within the English countryside.
